Kefir – drink of Olympians

During 31st Olympic games in Rio much attention will be given to the athletes competing and their successes. We all know and understand the strength and persistence it takes to be an Olympic athlete. Years and years of practice, hard competition and pure will to continue.

All athletes must be in their best physical and psychological state to perform at their best. For this, athletes diet is very important. In recent years more and more professional and non-professional sportsman and sportswomen have taken to milk as crucial part of their diet. Furthermore, many are daily drinking probiotic drinks to stay at their best health.

Kefir is one of the most common, but why?

We are all aware of health benefits of kefir. From probiotic bacteria which helps strengthen immune system to rich vitamins and minerals. Kefir is one of the most probiotic rich foods. When produced at home it can have up to 3 times more good bacteria than for example probiotic yogurt.

Since milk kefir is fermented from milk, it will contain high amounts of calcium. Furthermore, kefir is rich in vitamins, like vitamin B12, B1 and vitamin K.

Overall kefir is a powerhouse drink for all of us. Sadly is has been highly forgotten and replaced with artificial supplements. We forget how strong and healthy shepherds of Caucasus mountains were and why. Kefir, when produced at home with raw milk, can be an incredible boost for your health and may significantly improve your performance.
